Joy of Life: start the novel, not the Qidian “season 2” book

Catalog only. The chapter bodies were not read. No episode map, no quoted lines, no claim that a TV hour equals a chapter.

Search 庆余年 after the drama and the word 季 starts working two jobs. The show has seasons. Qidian also has books titled 庆余年第一季, 第二季, and 第三季. Same character, different cut. If the drama’s second season is why you are here, the book with 第二季 in the title is the wrong door. It is a later slice of a split upload, not “start where the show left off.”

Start at 珠串

Open 珠串 on Qidian and follow that book’s own order. The Chinese original, 庆余年, is the book page. On 12 October 2026 the mobile page called it 完本, author 猫腻, last update 2024-05-16, and the description said it had been updated through 833 chapters. The catalog’s first story entry was 首 珠串. The next titles in that list were 一 他是皇帝 and 二 她叫长公主. Those are labels on a contents page. This note did not open the text.

The same book page’s “latest chapter” was not a story chapter. It was titled 庆余年2剧情提前看，小说免费读. Handy if you wanted a promo. Useless as a reading start. Use the catalog from the front, not the newest button.

The other three doors

Qidian also lists three finished books that reuse the season word:

• 庆余年第一季, 254 chapters in its description, updated 2024-02-04. Its blurb names a television adaptation and the cast 张若昀, 李沁, 陈道明, 吴刚. That is the adaptation fact this page will carry.
• 庆余年第二季, 157 chapters in its description, updated the same day.
• 庆余年第三季, 342 chapters in its description, updated 2024-02-23.

254 plus 157 plus 342 is not 833. The split is not a tidy reprint of the original’s table of contents, and it is not the drama’s season count. This page did not line any episode up with any chapter. A blog that swears “season 2 starts at chapter X” was not used.

What the novel can give you, on the evidence of that catalog alone, is one continuous book instead of a season box. A television season is not 833 chapters. Which jokes, asides, or arguments the show dropped is exactly the sort of claim this page will not invent, because the chapters were not read. The shelf is the Joy of Life reading series.

If a watch-order chart or a mobile-game guide is the wrong door you already know, the same split is written up for Battle Through the Heavens and Lord of Mysteries. Different books. Same habit of starting in the wrong room.

Sources and limits

Checked on 12 October 2026, from public Qidian pages only. Original book 114559: title 庆余年, author 猫腻, status 完本, update time 2024-05-16 14:03:44, description “已更新833章,” canonical https://www.qidian.com/book/114559/. First catalog entry: 首 珠串, chapter 20203867. The newest listed title was the drama promo named above, chapter 792891040, which this page did not open. No chapter body was copied.

The three season listings are 1038949025, 1038949044, and 1039079393, with the chapter counts and dates above, taken from each page’s description and og:novel:update_time. The cast names are the ones printed on the 第一季 blurb. Episode counts, a watch order, and any episode-to-chapter table were not checked. A reader-ranking number on the book page was not treated as a word count.
