Key plot points
Tyrus and Victor pick Jimmy and Mike up at a truck stop. Jimmy posts Lalo’s bail and says he walked alone after the car broke down. Lalo plans to return to Mexico. Gus realizes the men who ambushed Jimmy were hired by Juan Bolsa to protect Gus’s business. Jimmy lies to Kim. She understands the truth after she sees a bullet hole in his coffee mug. She quits Schweikart & Cokely. Mike tells Jimmy the stress will pass with time.
Lalo goes to the pickup site so the Cousins can take him to Mexico, then searches for Jimmy’s car instead and returns to Albuquerque. Mike calls to warn Jimmy just before Lalo reaches Kim’s apartment. From a nearby roof Mike aims a rifle at Lalo. Lalo makes Jimmy repeat the desert story and asks about the bullet holes in the car.
Kim berates Lalo for not trusting Jimmy. Lalo appears satisfied. He tells Nacho to head for Mexico, but not to the original pickup site.
Character development
Kim leaves the firm after she has seen the hole in the mug. In the apartment she is the one who speaks to Lalo’s distrust.
Gus reads the ambush as Juan Bolsa protecting Gus’s business. Mike is on the roof while the story is repeated inside.
Themes
A walk told as solitude does not survive the mug. The list makes that object the thing that shows Kim the lie.
Lalo’s satisfaction is not the same as leaving the original plan unchanged. Nacho is sent to Mexico by a different route.
What to watch for
Watch the coffee mug and the holes in the car. One is what Kim sees. The other is what Lalo asks about.
Watch the roof. The list puts Mike’s rifle on Lalo during the apartment scene.
Easter eggs and fun observations
The episode title is not defined in the list, so this page does not define it. Juan Bolsa is named as the person who hired the ambush to protect Gus’s business.
The bullet hole in the mug is the detail the list gives Kim. Schweikart & Cokely is the firm she quits. Later seasons stay outside this page.
Sources checked
Episode titles, numbers, U.S. premiere dates, writers, and directors for seasons 1 through 6 were checked on 2026-10-07 against the English Wikipedia articles for those seasons. The season 1 article lists an official AMC series address. On 2026-10-07 a request to that address returned AMC’s Page Not Found page (HTTP 400), so it is cited as the listed series page, not as a page this guide was able to read.
Two official AMC pages did open. The Central Europe series page states the creators, the regular cast, and a ten-episode debut season. Bob Odenkirk’s cast page on amc.com sits on the Better Call Saul path and identifies him with the series; it does not list season 1 episode credits, and those credits were not taken from it. This guide does not reproduce dialogue, subtitles, or another outlet’s recap.
